The babies were at the crib, while I was strapped to one of them to my back. Ha! All was beginning to fall into place, but it was not quite done. To furnish the home would be an enormous undertaking with regards to both time and funds. It was also going to be a challenge to go out and shop for my most-loved items. To keep my budget in good shape, I went out with my three boys in search for bargains at estate sales. The routine we had for the week consisted of walking from Thursday to Saturday through garage sales buying a mixture of antique and brand new furniture as well as spending weekends painting and sanding the driveway. Looked a little something like the picture below... This was when my interest in restoring furniture began. After our home was fully completed, I was unable to stop! There was an area on the market where I sold things. Eventually, my collection grew so large that the room that I was living in was inadequate. The number of people who visited my house in one weekend to purchase everything that was on the ground. It was here that my business Growing Days was born. Growing Days was not only a thriving business but as well my family. I was balancing the demands between what it took starting a new venture and be a mommy too. Growing Days just fit. My daughter Nora became our fourth daughter. This was a fantastic direction for my business however, I needed a vacation. I decided to put off working on my antique furniture and stay home with the kids. This was precisely what I required. But after a short time I began to hear my phone ringing. The people who called me were asking for help with their interior decorating and home improvements. These people had mostly visited my house at the open houses to purchase furniture. It wasn't long before I managed a large-scale business for home improvement. It began with taking clients in a manner that I was at ease with. Had you told me my business would be the basis for a DIY Network show, I might have been astonished. In fact, I laugh at times when I think of the story.
